Description : UPSC Engineering Services Examination 2027, Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the notification for Engineering Services Examination 2027 for recruitment to various Engineering Services / Posts under Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering categories. The number of vacancies is expected to be approximately 480 vacancies, including 19 vacancies for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD). The online application process will start from 16 September 2026 and continue up to 06 October 2026. The Engineering Services Preliminary Examination is scheduled for 31 January 2027. • Candidate must have obtained a Degree in Engineering from a recognized University / Institution as prescribed in the notification.
• Sections A and B of the Institution Examinations of the Institution of Engineers (India) are also prescribed qualifications subject to the conditions mentioned in the notification.
• Engineering Degree / Diploma from a recognized foreign University / College / Institution may also be accepted subject to the prescribed conditions.
• Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India) may be accepted subject to the conditions specified by UPSC.
• Associate Membership Examination Parts II and III / Sections A and B of the Aeronautical Society of India is also mentioned in the notification.
• Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Radio Engineers, London held after November 1959 is also prescribed.
• For certain posts including Indian Naval Armament Service and Indian Radio Regulatory Service, prescribed M.Sc. qualifications in specified subjects may also be accepted.

• Create / use the required Account, Universal Registration Number (URN) and Common Application Form (CAF).
• Fill the Examination Specific Module for Engineering Services Examination 2027.

• Select the preferred Engineering Discipline and Examination Centre carefully.

• Paper-I: General Studies and Engineering Aptitude – 200 Marks, 2 Hours.
• Paper-II: Engineering Discipline – 300 Marks, 3 Hours.
• Stage-II / Main: Two Conventional Type Engineering Discipline Papers carrying 600 Marks, 300 marks each and 3 hours each.
• Stage-III: Personality Test / Interview – 200 Marks.
• Negative Marking: One-third of the marks assigned to the question will be deducted for a wrong answer in objective papers.
